The Kooragang site required detailed remediation works to clear the soil of any contaminates during the past decades of operations. RTC we required to keep the site operating due to the Kooragang facility being the biggest metal recycling facility in the southern hemisphere, leading to the split staging program of the facility. This allowed Sims Metal to maintain control of majority of the site, ensuring minimal impact to the operations.

The works include:

• Over 15,000m2 of heavy duty concrete pavement areas.
• Large engineered metal stone stockpile areas.
• New amenities & office buildings.
• New workshop, washbay & shed structures.
• New carparking areas.
• Complete stormwater system upgrades, including swale drains throughout leading to a large sediment basing area with inground spel tanks.
• Complete landscaping throughout with security fencing.
