The successful execution of the facility hinged on two key aspects; the seamless coordination of the weighbridge installation process and surrounding works, and creating a stormwater management system to control chemical spills from entering the town water supply.
The weighbridge was a pivotal element as it served as the entry point for the recycling centre, managing the influx and outflow of materials. RTC’s team worked diligently to ensure its seamless integration into the overall design, facilitating smooth
operations and accurate measurements. The site previously contained dense bushland, RTC had to clear the site and detail excavate two 140kL Spel Tanks below the site. With the depth of excavation and high water table, sheet piling and bracing was required to maintain the excavated vertical face integrity.
Once earthworks and in-ground services were completed, the rest of the build was a smooth operation of concrete slab base construction, steel offices and storage sheds.
Through staff expertise and close collaboration, RTC ensured every aspect of the project was executed in line with SMM design requirements. RTC’s success laid the groundwork for our continued partnership with SMM, as we embark on the design & construct of a new SMM facility at Kooragang, Newcastle NSW.
