RTC were engaged by UGL to construct the control & administration building at the soon to be operating Snowy Hydro Gas Fired Power Station, Kurri Kurri NSW.

The building is a precast concrete tilt-up panel construction with highly engineered services and structural elements due to the buildings utmost importance to maintaining control of the Gas Power Plant over it’s lifetime. RTC’s scope involved everything from detailed earthworks through to finishes and fit-out of the building while working alongside UGL’s own specialised contractors.

This project was unique to RTC in regard to the extensive quality control practices performed by the client due to the projects importance to the government’s power grid. RTC has always used strict ISO certified WHSE&Q systems to ensure our projects are built with minimal defects and in worthy condition of anyone’s standards. We adapted to using new document control
systems along with handover and commissioning procedures. It was of the utmost importance to ensure we met the contractual requirements of the client.

The site works were performed smoothly with the project team always being on the forefront with permits and approvals required with all the high-risk works involved with a concrete tilt up panel building design.

The project was successfully delivered to UGL, and Snowy Hydro personnel have since moved into the building. RTC are proud to have been part of such a vital project for the Hunter Valley, learning many valuable lessons throughout the ten month project. RTC has since adjusted our own WHSE&Q systems to ensure all projects meet the same standards expected on high- profile Government funded projects such as the Hunter Power Project.
